  • 1 cup(s) water
  • 1 cup(s) sushi rice
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 ¼ tsp sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Wash the rice thoroughly in a sieve until the water runs clear, then drain well. Add the rice and water to the pot, cover, and bring to a boil over high heat. Then reduce the heat to low and let the rice swell for about 15 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and let the rice swell for another 10 minutes. Mix the sugar and salt with the rice vinegar in a pot and heat until the sugar and salt have completely dissolved. Transfer the rice to a bowl (sheet metal), drizzle with the seasoned vinegar, and mix in with a wooden spatula, but do not stir. Cover the rice with a damp cloth until ready to use.
