Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Whisk the eggs with the cream. Coarsely grate the apples, including the skins. Mix both with the quark, vanilla sugar, salt, and honey. Cut the braided bread into finger-thick slices. Layer the braided bread slices and the quark mixture alternately in a baking dish like lasagna, starting with the braided bread and ending with the quark. Bake in the oven on the middle rack for about 30 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius. The dish doesn’t need to be greased beforehand, as the quark and the braided bread won’t stick to the surface. The oven-baked bread is ready when the quark mixture has a jelly-like consistency and is golden yellow. You can check this with a small spoon or a knife. Tip: Instead of apples, you can also use cherries, or raisins if the braided bread doesn’t have any raisins.
