Ammerland oat casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 150 g oat flakes
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 dashes lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 20 g butter
  • 350 g cherry(s), pitted, preferably from the jar
  • some butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Bring the oats, salt, and milk to a boil, stirring constantly. Once boiling, remove the pan from the heat and let cool slightly. While the oats are cooling, whisk the eggs, butter, sugar, and lemon juice until fluffy and fold into the oats. Drain the cherries, if they come from a jar. Grease a baking dish (approx. 20 cm x 25 cm with at least a 7 cm edge) with a little butter. Pour the cherries into the baking dish and sprinkle the oats over the cherries. Bake in the oven at 180°C for approx. 40 minutes.
