Turnip or swede stew

Boil the meat almost completely covered with water. Drain through a sieve. Clean and peel the vegetables, including the onions, and cut into pieces. Cook in the broth until tender. Drain some of the broth, mash everything, season to taste, and add more broth if necessary. Eat the meat on the side. You can fry it briefly; it tastes even better that way. Serve with thick slices of dark, hearty farmhouse bread.
