Sweet and sour cucumbers

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • ½ liter vinegar (Gurkenmeister, 3-fold concentrated)
  • 1 liter of water
  • 2 kg cucumber(s), large
  • 4 onions
  • 6 tsp mustard seeds
  • 600 g sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

makes 4 large glasses

Add approximately 1 1/2 teaspoons of mustard seeds to each 800 ml jar. Dissolve the sugar in the cucumber mixture and water over low heat. Peel the cucumbers, halve lengthwise, remove the seeds, and cut into strips. Peel the onions and slice them into rings. Add the prepared cucumbers and onions to the liquid in batches, bring to a boil, and layer tightly in the jars. Pour the boiling liquid over the cucumbers. Close the lids immediately.
