Sweet Stollen casserole

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 700 g Stollen (dry quark Stollen)
  • 1 jar applesauce
  • 700 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 200 g yogurt (baked apple flavor)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

Christmas leftovers

Heat the milk with the butter until the butter has melted. Allow to cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs. Now cut the Stollen into slices about 1 cm wide and place in a sufficiently large dish/bowl. Spread the egg wash on top and let it soak for at least half an hour. Grease a baking dish and spread half of the soaked Stollen slices on the bottom. It works better if you cut the slices up a bit first. Spread the apple sauce on top. Now place the remaining Stollen slices on top. Mix the remaining egg wash in the bowl with the yogurt and spread it over the casserole. Now place the whole thing in the oven and bake at 200 degrees Celsius for 40 to 45 minutes. Because of the many spices in the Stollen, the apple sauce and the yogurt, I didn’t need to add any sugar or anything like that. But that’s purely a matter of taste.
