Tea For Losing Weight: These Varieties Help

These teas help you lose weight

To get straight to the point: there is no such thing as a tea that will make you lose a lot of kilos as if by magic. Nevertheless, tea can be very helpful when dieting, especially since the drink usually has almost no calories.

  • In order for the tea to really help you lose weight, you must observe one important requirement: you must drink the tea pure. Pure means: no sugar and no fatty milk.
  • If you always have a pot of the low-calorie drink ready to hand, pour yourself a cup of tea when you get hungry. The rooibos tea from South Africa, for example, is not only healthy but also helps curb the appetite for sweets.
  • The situation is similar to the mate plant from Latin America. Latin Americans even chew the fresh mate leaves when they get hungry. But mate tea also successfully helps to suppress the feeling of hunger. In addition, the abundant caffeine stimulates the metabolism. The saponins in mate tea break down the fat molecules and thus ensure better processing and elimination of the fat. Because of its caffeine, mate tea is ideal for waking up in the early hours of the morning. However, you should stop drinking the pick-me-up from late afternoon if you want to get a good night’s sleep.
  • What mate tea is to Latin America, oolong tea is to China. This is considered there as the fat killer par excellence and is often drunk after a very fatty meal. The caffeine boosts the metabolism and, just like in mate tea, the saponins in oolong tea support the body in splitting fat and excreting it quickly.
  • Unlike caffeinated teas, you can drink ginger tea around the clock. The aromatic root is very healthy and is therefore often used in medicine. In addition, ginger tea boosts metabolism and digestion and thus supports your diet.
  • White tea also actively supports fat metabolism thanks to its high catechin and polyphenol content. As a fat-killer, it ranks high on most lists of the best teas for losing weight.
  • Green tea is probably one of the best-known types of tea when it comes to losing weight. Especially since there are already some – but sometimes contradictory – studies on the effect of green tea on metabolism and fat burning. In addition to its ingredients, the tart taste of the hot drink has an appetite-suppressing effect and makes the kilos tumble.

Tea and weight loss – that’s what a new study says

However, you do not necessarily have to use the teas mentioned above. Researchers have recently found that black tea has a similar effect on weight loss.

  • As scientists explain in their publication in the “European Journal of Nutrition”, black tea has a similarly positive effect on weight loss as green tea.
  • Green tea supports weight loss by destroying certain gut bacteria associated with unwanted obesity.
  • According to scientists, the polyphenols contained in green tea are responsible for the effect.
  • Black tea also contains this antioxidant plant protection substance. The researchers now assume that black tea is just as suitable for losing weight because of this.
  • But in the end, that’s not the point – you’re unlikely to lose weight just by drinking the tea. It is important that you drink a cup of unsweetened tea instead of cream cake and the like or high-calorie drinks. Then the excess pounds will disappear on their own very quickly.
  • By the way: Very inexpensive teas made from local herbs, such as peppermint tea, dandelion tea, or St. John’s wort tea, also help you lose weight.
