The perfect yeast dough

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 100 g margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 300 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 700 g flour, maybe a little more

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Melt the margarine and crumble the yeast cube. Mix all ingredients together and knead into a smooth dough, then knead for at least 10 minutes. Let it rise in a warm place. If you have a bread and butter machine, you can select the “dough” mode. However, the dough rises so much in the bread and butter machine that the entire batch overflows the container, so I either halve the amount of ingredients or abort the program early. The dough is perfect for almost anything: pierogi, rolls, filled sheet cakes, braids, and so on. If you’re baking something sweet, you can use 3 tablespoons of sugar instead of 2 and add 1 packet of vanilla sugar to taste. Bake the baked goods in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 15-20 minutes.
