Thread Cake

The perfect thread cake recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 g Kadayif (angel hair)
  • 250 g Melted butter
  • 50 g Chopped pistachios
  • Syrup;
  • 400 ml Water
  • 600 g Sugar
  • Some squirts of lemon juice
  1. Spread the dough threads on a baking sheet (pull apart).
  2. Melt the butter, pour it over the threads of the dough and knead everything together thoroughly.
  3. Put the dough strings in a springform pan, distribute on top and press flat.
  4. Bake golden in the not preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 25 minutes.
  5. Bring the sugar with the water and lemon juice to the boil and pour evenly onto the still hot kadayif and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
  6. Garnish with the ground pistachios and cut into diamonds or squares of the same size. You can also sprinkle with ground almonds or walnuts instead of pistachios.
