Thuringian dumplings in just a few minutes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 package of dough for Thuringian dumplings (ready-made product)
  • 2 large potatoes, raw
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch(s) nutmeg, to taste
  • 1 roll (also stale)
  • 1 tbsp butter (heaped)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Dice the rolls, about 16 at a time, and place them in a pan with the butter. Fry slowly so the cubes can absorb the liquid. Season with salt and toast until slightly crispy. In the meantime, peel and grate the potatoes. Place the dumpling dough in a bowl, add the grated raw potatoes, 1 teaspoon of salt, and the grated nutmeg, and mix well. With wet hands, form a dumpling, place 2 roll cubes in the center, and add to a large pot of boiling water; the mixture will make about 8 dumplings. After bringing to a boil briefly, turn down the heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
