Timmi's currant salad

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g currants, red
  • 200 g currants, white
  • 2 sprigs of peppermint
  • 1 stalk of lemon balm
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • n. B. Honey

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

tastes great on its own or with almost all sweet desserts

Pick, sort, and wash the currants. Drain well. Pluck the peppermint and lemon balm from the stems. Grind them with the sugar. Mix the berries with the peppermint/lemon balm sugar and let it steep for a while. We then serve honey on the table so everyone can add more sugar, as the currants are very tart. Almost anything sweet goes well with this salad, from puddings, ice cream, strudel, etc. Of course, you can also enjoy the “salad” on its own (incidentally, my 7-year-old son invented the recipe).
