Toast: Sandwich with Cheese and Baked Ham
The perfect toast: sandwich with cheese and baked ham recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 8 Discs Wholemeal wheat bread / wholegrain rye bread toast
- 2 piece Free range eggs
- 200 g Freshly grated Gouda medium-aged
- 4 Discs Boiled ham
- 1 tbsp Mustard medium hot
- 2 tbsp Butter
- Sea salt from the mill
- Black pepper from the mill
- Toast the 8 slices of toast lightly but crispy. Let cool down.
- In a small bowl, season the 2 eggs well with mustard, salt and pepper and beat well with a whisk until frothy. Gradually add the freshly grated Gouda cheese and stir to a creamy mixture. Season again to taste.
- Now brush the cooled toast slices with the butter and cover each of the 4 slices with a slice of cooked ham. Now spread the cheese cream generously on top and put the other 4 buttered toasted breads on top.
- In the meantime, heat the oven to 200 ° C (gas mark 3-4).
- Place the toast bread on fire-proof breakfast plates (I have extra toast pans) and slide them into the oven on the second rail from the top. Baked until the cheese melts golden yellow.
- A couple of tomato slices for the look and good appetite.
- To ensure that this toast doesn’t get too boring, different types of cheese can be used, e.g .: Emmental, Chester, Greyezer, raclette, steppe cheese, Appenzeller or mountain cheese.
