Toasted oat flakes

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

for fruit salad, for muesli, as a border for fruit cake, etc.

Melt the butter in a nonstick pan. Stir in the oats, sprinkle with sugar, and mix over low heat until the oats have absorbed the fat and clump together slightly. Don’t let them brown, or they’ll lose their flavor, so stay with them and stir. This is how I get my kids to eat fruit salad. You can also use it as a decoration for the edges of a sponge cake; the edges must, of course, be covered with cream or whipped cream first. Then press the oats down.
