Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 large slices of brown bread
  • 2 large slices of cooked ham
  • 2 slice(s) cheese, e.g. Gouda, medium-aged or mozzarella
  • 2 medium-sized onions, cut into rings
  • 4 medium-sized tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • e.g. butter
  • n. B. salt and pepper, freshly ground
  • e.g. basil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Spread the bread slices with butter and top with the cooked ham. Spread the ketchup on top. Place the onion rings on top and arrange the tomato slices on top, tiled. Season everything with salt and pepper and top with the cheese slices. In a pan, fry the eggs in a little butter until fried; the yolks should still be runny. Season with salt and pepper and place them on the bread while still hot. If you like, you can garnish these tomato sandwiches with fresh basil leaves.
