Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g sugar, brown or rock candy
  • 1 tonka bean(s)
  • 200 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 5 minutes

A refined syrup for coffee or tea

Finely chop the tonka bean. In a saucepan, bring the sugar or rock candy to a boil with the water and the chopped tonka bean. Simmer for about 20 minutes – leave the lid on the pan. When the syrup is ready, pour the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve and into a clean bottle. The syrup tastes delicious in coffee or tea. Tonka beans have a slight vanilla and marzipan flavor and are harmful in large quantities.
