Toscana meatballs

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • possibly herbs (oregano, thyme, basil etc.)
  • possibly garlic
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped, approx. 400 g
  • 100 g sweet cream
  • 3 tbsp Italian herbs (frozen)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 ball(s) of mozzarella
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Meatballs in tomato sauce topped with mozzarella

Season the minced meat with salt and pepper. If desired, add herbs such as oregano, thyme, and/or basil, and garlic to taste. Form the mixture into approximately 12-15 small balls and place them in a baking dish. For the tomato sauce, mix the chopped tomatoes with the cream, herb mixture, tomato paste, and sugar, then season with salt and pepper. Pour the mixture over the meatballs. Slice the mozzarella and scatter over the meatballs. Cook in a preheated oven at 175°C (convection oven) for approximately 30-40 minutes. Be careful that the cheese doesn’t overcook. Serve with rice.
