Tri-Color Marble Cake

The perfect tri-color marble cake recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

For the basic dough

  • 200 g Soft butter
  • 180 g Sugar
  • 1 packet Bourbon vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 5 Pc. Eggs M
  • 350 g Flour
  • 1 packet Baking powder

For the dough variations

  • 1 Pc. Organic orange
  • 50 g Whole milk chocolate grated
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 50 g Raspberry fruit spread from the refrigerated shelf
  • 1 bag Raspberry jelly for 500 ml of liquid

For the casting

  • 150 g Powdered sugar
  • Lemon juice or orange juice
  1. Mix the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt until frothy. Gradually stir in the eggs. Mix flour with baking powder and stir into the butter mixture. Divide the dough into 3 portions.
  2. 2nd portion 1: Wash the orange with hot water and rub off 1 teaspoon of the zest. Squeeze the fruit. Stir the zest and 2 tablespoons of juice into the batter.
  3. 3rd portion 2: stir in cocoa powder, grated chocolate and milk.
  4. 4th serving 3: stir in jelly powder and fruit spread.
  5. In a loaf pan (25 x 11) first spread the red, then the yellow and finally the brown dough. Bake at 180 degrees for 60 minutes. Let the cake cool down a bit and turn it out of the tin. Mix the powdered sugar with the lemon or orange juice and spread on the cake.
  6. My glaze takes a bit of getting used to because I tried to spice up the glaze with food coloring. Unfortunately I did not read the instructions for “G’scheitheimer” and so my cast was a mixture of yellow and green. Didn’t harm the taste though.
