Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Basic recipe

Crumble the yeast into a tall mug with the warm milk and a little sugar and let it rise. If using dry yeast, add it to the flour straight away. Put the flour, sugar, butter, egg, and salt in a bowl, pour over the risen yeast, and mix everything into a smooth dough. Work the dough with a wooden spoon until it forms a smooth dough, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place. Now make a kneaded dough from the butter, sugar, flour, vanilla sugar, and salt and refrigerate. Knead the risen yeast dough again and mix it well with the kneaded dough. Let the dough rise again, depending on the recipe, on a baking sheet, in a tin, or in small pieces. Twin dough is ideal for making all types of baked goods that would normally be made with yeast dough. Twin dough baked goods have a more crumbly and finer texture. Twin dough baked goods stay fresh much longer than pure yeast dough baked goods. The dough can also be frozen if you have any leftover dough.
