Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 750 g flour
- 125 g butter
- 125 g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 300 ml milk
- Salt
- 1 cube of yeast
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes
Put the flour in a bowl and make a well in the middle. Mix half of the milk with the yeast and a little sugar to make a starter dough. Cover the starter dough and let it rise for about half an hour. Then add the remaining ingredients and knead everything well into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rise for another hour. Then make the dough into the desired pastry, e.g. braid it or place it in a well-greased bundt cake tin (then let it rise in the tin for another 20 minutes). Bake at about 190-200 degrees Celsius. A medium bundt cake or a plaited bread takes about 40 minutes to bake. This is actually a basic recipe for sweet yeast dough!! I just find the butter too much. I only use 100g butter instead of 125g. It’s also a bit too sweet for me – so I add a heaped teaspoon of salt!! You can also make snails etc. from the dough. There are no limits to your imagination!
