Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 125 g butter
  • 125 g margarine
  • 100 ml oil
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 125 g cornstarch
  • 125 g powdered sugar
  • 650 g flour
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Easy and inexpensive to produce

Place butter, margarine, and oil in a mixing bowl. Mix by hand or with a dough hook. Gradually add the flour, not all at once, along with cornstarch and powdered sugar, then add the vanilla sugar and knead. The dough should not be sticky; add a little more flour if necessary. Divide the dough into walnut-sized pieces and shape them into balls with your hands. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at 160°C (320°F), keeping an eye on them; the cookies should stay white. After baking, dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm. This pastry is a must-have on any Turkish tea table. It’s easy to make and tastes delicious. By the way: baking powder has no place in this dough.
