Uncle Joe's BBQ Sauce with Whiskey

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 ml tomato(s), pureed
  • 200 ml cola
  • 40 ml whiskey
  • 40 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 40 ml white wine vinegar
  • 40 ml fir honey
  • 25 ml beet syrup or maple syrup
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 small apple
  • 1 tsp, heaped smoked salt
  • 1 tsp, heaped spice mix
  • 1 tsp, heaped pepper, black
  • 1 tsp, heaped sugar, brown
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

A smoky and fruity barbecue sauce

Peel the onion and garlic and finely dice or chop. Combine the spice mix, salt, pepper, curry powder, paprika, and sugar in a bowl. Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the diced onion and fry lightly. Add the garlic and fry briefly. Add the passata, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and spices and bring to a boil. Stir in the cola and bring to a boil briefly. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the whiskey and sugar beet syrup. Simmer for about 30 minutes.
