Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • 200 g flour, smooth
  • 150 ml soy milk (soy drink) or almond milk
  • 150 ml water
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter, vegan
  • 200 ml BBQ sauce, vegan

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Cauliflower, simple, vegan

First, remove the leaves from the cauliflower and cut it into bite-sized florets. Mix the flour well with the milk, water, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika powder, cumin, salt, and pepper until smooth. Preheat the oven to 220°C (fan oven). Line a baking tray with baking paper (do not use aluminum foil or anything similar, as it will stick). Roll the cauliflower florets well in the batter, let them drain, and place them on the baking tray. Bake the florets in the oven for about 25 minutes, turning them over after 12 minutes. Be careful, keep an eye on them; the baking time can vary depending on the size of the florets. While the cauliflower florets are baking, melt the butter in a saucepan, mix it with the BBQ sauce, bring to a boil, and then transfer them to a bowl. When the florets are ready, remove them from the oven, toss them in the BBQ sauce, and bake for another 25 minutes. Before serving, toss the florets in the leftover sauce and sprinkle with a little sea salt. Serve with potato wedges and vegan sour cream or aioli.
