Vegetables: My Red Cabbage

The perfect vegetables: my red cabbage recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 head Red cabbage, red cabbage, red cabbage, fresh
  • 1 piece Fresh onion
  • 1 piece Apple fresh
  • 2 tablespoon Pork fat or the like, also clarified butter tastes fine
  • 2 piece Bay leaves
  • 5 piece Cloves
  • 5 piece Juniper berries
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 100 ml Dry red wine
  • 2 tablespoon Currant jelly*
  • 0,5 teaspoon Cinammon
  1. Remove the outermost leaves from the red cabbage, quarter, remove the stalk and slice finely. Peel and dice the apple and onion.
  2. Heat the pork fat in a saucepan, add the diced apple and onion with the cabbage and fry well. Stir every now and then.
  3. As soon as the cabbage is uniformly blue, add the spices and wine and cook until soft.
  4. Before serving, stir in the currant jelly and cinnamon and, if necessary, season again with salt, pepper and sugar.
