Vegetables: My Red Cabbage
The perfect vegetables: my red cabbage recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 head Red cabbage, red cabbage, red cabbage, fresh
- 1 piece Fresh onion
- 1 piece Apple fresh
- 2 tablespoon Pork fat or the like, also clarified butter tastes fine
- 2 piece Bay leaves
- 5 piece Cloves
- 5 piece Juniper berries
- 1 tablespoon Salt
- 2 tablespoon Sugar
- 100 ml Dry red wine
- 2 tablespoon Currant jelly*
- 0,5 teaspoon Cinammon
- Remove the outermost leaves from the red cabbage, quarter, remove the stalk and slice finely. Peel and dice the apple and onion.
- Heat the pork fat in a saucepan, add the diced apple and onion with the cabbage and fry well. Stir every now and then.
- As soon as the cabbage is uniformly blue, add the spices and wine and cook until soft.
- Before serving, stir in the currant jelly and cinnamon and, if necessary, season again with salt, pepper and sugar.
