Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 3 eggs
- 150 g sugar
- 250 g flour
- 150 g margarine
- ½ cup of sour cream, 200 g each
- 200 ml milk
- 2 packets of vanilla sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp, leveled baking soda, optional
- 1 bottle of rum flavoring
- powdered sugar
- some fat for the waffle iron
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar with a hand mixer on high speed until frothy. Add the margarine and sour cream and beat on high speed for 1-2 minutes. Then add the milk, baking powder, baking soda, and rum flavoring. Finally, gradually add the flour to the bowl, stirring constantly, and mix for 2-3 minutes. Grease the preheated waffle iron and bake the waffles. The waffles taste best warm with fresh fruit and vanilla ice cream. I’ve tried a number of waffle recipes, but always found them rather boring and dry. I stuck with this recipe because the sour cream keeps the waffles nice and moist, and the rum flavoring gives them a certain wonderful flavor.
