Walnuts and Hazelnuts Combined
The perfect walnuts and hazelnuts combined recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
dough
- 500 g Spelled flour
- 0,5 packet Dry yeast
- 0,25 liter Milk
- 50 g Sugar
- 1 piece Egg
- 50 g Butter
- 1 pinch Salt
filling
- 200 g Walnuts whole
- 80 g Ground hazelnuts
- 80 g Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Cinammon
- 0,125 liter Milk approx.
- Make a dough from the ingredients above. Warm the milk slightly with the butter, but the butter must not become liquid.
- Then let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
- In the meantime, prepare the filling.
- Roughly chop the whole walnuts. Mix in the ground (fine) hazelnuts.
- Add 80 grams of sugar and mix in about 1/8 liter of milk.
- So that a thick mass is created.
- Preheat the oven to top and bottom heat to 180-190 C.
- After 45 minutes, roll out the dough into a square. Spread the nut mixture on it, leaving at least 1cm free from the edge.
- Roll up into a roll, seam down, place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Cut the roll in the middle, fold the two parts over each other like a braid. Press the ends together firmly.
- Bake in the oven on the middle rack for about 45 minutes, depending on the oven.
- If you want, you can put a glaze made of powdered sugar, water and a splash of lemon juice on the warm braid. Or just sprinkle with powdered sugar.
