War soup

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 large onions
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 2 m.-sized potatoes, raw
  • 2 cubes of broth (beef soup)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 liter of water

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Finely chop the onions and brown them in the butter. Add 1 liter of water and bring to a boil. Add 2 stock cubes. Grate the raw potatoes onto a plate using a fine vegetable grater and stir into the boiling stock. Season with pepper and finally, press in the garlic clove. This goes wonderfully with toasted baguette. Enjoy! This recipe has been passed down from generation to generation and, as the name suggests, has survived from the wartime to the present day.
