Wareniki with Creme Fraiche

The perfect wareniki with creme fraiche recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 2 Glasses Flour
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • Water
  • 5 Potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 Little ones Onion, chopped, stewed
  • Nutmeg, salt, pepper
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • 1 cups Creme fraiche Cheese
  1. Make a chain from the first 5 ingredients. Add either flour or water as needed.
  1. Mix the potato mixture with the onions, season and prepare as a filling.
  1. Roll out the dough, cut out circles with the glass, add 1 teaspoon of the filling, fold over, press the ends together and make a pattern with a fork. Caution, the dough is extremely sticky and should therefore be rolled out on a floured surface, keep the folded Warenikis at a distance from each other until all Warenikis are ready. Don’t put them together too closely as I do in the photo, because then all of them are glued together for me 🙁
  1. Boil in boiling salted water for about 5 minutes and fish out, serve on plates with a dollop of creme fraiche each, if necessary serve with salt, pepper from the mill and soy sauce.
