Watermelon rind filled with fruit

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 melon(s) (watermelon)
  • 200 g mandarin orange(s) (e.g. 1 small jar of Natreen)
  • 200 g pineapple (fresh or jar)
  • 200 g peach(s) (e.g. 1 small jar of Natreen)
  • 150 g sugar (rock sugar)

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Classy fruit salad in a sophisticated bowl

Bring about 1 liter of water to a boil in a saucepan. Add the rock sugar and melt it. Then pour the sugar water into a bowl and let it cool. Wash the melon thoroughly and dry it. Carve and decorate the melon skin in any pattern you like (see my pictures here if I’ve uploaded them; otherwise, the patterns are left to your imagination). Cut the melon about 3 cm below the stem (don’t discard the resulting lid). Then flatten the bottom of the melon slightly so it stands upright. Carefully scoop out the melon flesh and remove the seeds, taking care not to damage the rind. Cut some of the melon flesh (as desired) into small pieces along with the remaining fruit. Then transfer the fruit to the melon bowl and refrigerate for about 10 minutes. Pour as much sugar water as desired into the melon. Replace the lid and serve.
