Ingredients

  • 1 kg Flour
  • 400 ml Milk
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 2 packet Dry yeast
  • 200 g Butter
  • 200 g Salt

Instructions

Make the dough

  • Mix the flour with the dry yeast, add sugar. Add the butter in flakes and about half of the milk. Then knead everything and gradually add the rest of the Miclh until the dough can be kneaded well. You may not need all of the milk, for me it always fluctuates a bit.

Let rest

  • Put the whole thing in a bowl in the oven, cover with a towel, let rise at approx. 50 ° C. I let it go for about 30 minutes. Then divide into two loaves, if possible the same size, otherwise they will be baked differently at the end. I let the whole thing go for another 30 minutes.

to bake

  • Then bake at top / bottom heat at 170 ° C for 45 minutes - 1 hour. It tastes best fresh, still lukewarm with butter or jam 🙂

As an Easter braid

  • After the 1st let rise, divide the dough into three equal pieces. Then roll them out into long lines and then braid them. Then continue as you did with the bread
