Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 200 g yellow split peas
  • 150 g cream cheese, reduced fat
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 tsp wild garlic leaves, shredded
  • 1 tsp Pul Biber
  • smoked salt
  • Sumac
  • chili powder
  • pepper, black
  • some Marsala
  • 2 onions, red, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp linseed oil or extra virgin olive oil
  • some oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours

simple and vegetarian

Simmer 1 part split peas (200 g) and 3 parts water for 90 minutes without salt or spices. Dice the onions and roast them in a little oil, then caramelize them with a teaspoon of sugar. Mix everything with the cream cheese, spices, and linseed oil and season to taste. Then pour into a screw-top jar and store in the refrigerator for about 1 week. Serve on whole-grain rye bread with avocado and tomatoes for a hearty breakfast.
