Yogurt Dessert with Dwarf Oranges
The perfect yogurt dessert with dwarf oranges recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 125 g Kumquat fresh
- 100 ml Water
- 100 ml White wine
- 1 tablespoon Extra fine sugar
- 1 pinch Salt
- Greek yogurt 10% fat
- 20 Amarettini almond biscuits
- 2 teaspoon Chopped pistachios
- Kumquat are dwarf oranges that are eaten unpeeled, i.e. whole. They taste delicious, but unfortunately they are seldom seen in our markets – probably because they cannot be stored for long. But this week they were actually available fresh from a discount store. I treated myself to a few to make this delicious dessert with.
- To prepare: wash the fruit, pat dry and cut into 5mm thick slices. Remove any cores that may be present.
- Bring the water, wine, sugar and a pinch of salt to the boil in a small pot, add the kumquat slices and let everything “simmer” over a mild heat for about 4 minutes. Then immediately place in a cold water bath to cool down quickly. Then let the finished compote cool completely in the refrigerator.
- For dessert, distribute about half of the compote between two champagne bowls or similar containers, place 8 to 10 Amarettini almond biscuits on each, add 2 heaping tablespoons of Greek yogurt (10%), and pour the rest of the compote on top. Serve sprinkled with pistachios.
