Onion bread

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg flour
  • 2 ½ tsp salt
  • 2 ½ tbsp sugar
  • 3 packets of yeast (dry yeast)
  • 500 ml water, lukewarm
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 400 g onion(s) (fried onions)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

as a side dish at barbecues or as a snack at parties

Put the flour in a bowl. Make a well in the middle and add the sugar, salt, and yeast. Add the water and oil to the well. Knead well and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Then add the fried onions and knead them in. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it on a baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 40 minutes. Variations: Instead of one large loaf, shape into small rolls and bake as directed. Instead of the fried onions, use a few teaspoons of garlic powder, or add diced ham to the dough. Instead of three packets of dry yeast, you can use just one packet and let it rise for longer (e.g. 60 minutes).
