Calzone like in Italy

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1,000 g flour
  • 50 g yeast
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 250 ml water, lukewarm
  • 10 balls of mozzarella
  • 10 packs of ham
  • salt and pepper
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Mix all ingredients into a dough. Important: do not let it rest for too long, about 10 minutes. Squeeze out the mozzarella and season with salt and pepper. Chop the ham into small pieces. Form the dough into balls, roll them out flat, and cover with the filling. Then fold them in half. Add oil to a deep frying pan and fry the calzone until golden brown. Tip: The size of the balls is up to you: large balls make a large calzone, small balls make a small calzone. You can also change the filling, for example, with minced meat and cheese – to make a less runny Bolognese sauce beforehand.
