Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 8 eggs, including the egg whites
- 180 g sugar
- 100 g poppy seeds (gray poppy seeds), grated (Waldviertler gray poppy seeds)
- 80 g flour
- 250 ml whipped cream
- Liqueur (cranberry liqueur or jam)
Instructions
Working time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour
Beat egg whites with granulated sugar until stiff peaks form and carefully fold in the poppy seed and flour mixture. Spread the mixture evenly and thinly onto a baking sheet, measuring the desired size, and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 7 minutes. Drizzle the baked cake layers with cranberry liqueur or jam and spread with whipped cream. Stack the layers and decorate with whipped cream. Top with grated poppy seeds, if desired.
