Cinnamon apple sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 kg apples, e.g. James Grieve
  • 130 g cane sugar
  • 20 g vanilla sugar
  • 15 g cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp, leveled nutmeg, freshly grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Makes 5 glasses of 340 ml each

Wash the apples, dry them, peel them, quarter them, core them, and cut them into small pieces. Bring them to a boil in a large pot with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 400–500 ml of water. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Blend everything with a hand blender until you get a sauce. Immediately pour the hot apple sauce into clean twist-off jars, seal tightly, and let it cool. This delicious apple sauce will keep for about 3–4 weeks if refrigerated and stored in a dark place. It tastes great with rice pudding, pancakes, and much more.
