Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g poppy seeds
  • 130 ml milk
  • 80 g sugar (to taste)
  • 50 g butter, room temperature
  • 2 eggs for binding
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar or the pulp of a vanilla pod
  • e.g. rum or rum raisins
  • n. B. Lemon peel, untreated, grated
  • e.g. candied lemon and/or orange peel, chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Grind the poppy seeds in a poppy seed or coffee grinder, pour the milk over them, and let them swell for 15-20 minutes. Stir in all the other ingredients. The mixture will be a bit runny after processing. It’s best to prepare it a day in advance and refrigerate it overnight or for 1-2 hours on the day of preparation. This will allow the mixture to spread easily.
