Falafel

The perfect falafel recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Can Chickpeas
  • 50 g Millet
  • 1 small Onion
  • 1 Clove of garlic
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Tomato paste
  • Cumin, parsley, salt, pepper, oil
  • 50 g Flour
  1. Boil the millet with approx. 100 ml water for 10 minutes, then remove from the stove and let it steep for another 10 minutes.
  2. Put the chickpeas, millet, onion, garlic, lemon juice and tomato paste in a tall container and puree.
  3. Season with cumin, parsley, salt and pepper.
  4. Add the flour and mix in. I always use whole wheat flour.
  5. Heat a pan with plenty of oil, form small falafels out of the dough, add to the pan and fry until the desired color is achieved.
  6. It is best to turn the falafel as little as possible so that they don’t disintegrate.
  7. While frying, add the oil again and again.
  8. The millet in it makes the falafel nice and juicy 🙂
