Herring with Jacket Potatoes
The perfect herring with jacket potatoes recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 3 Matjes herrings
- 100 g Greek yogurt 10% fat
- 2 tablespoon Creme fraiche Cheese
- 2 tablespoon Mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Pickled cucumber stock
- 1 Onion
- 1 Pickled cucumber
- 1 Bit of Apple
- Chive rolls
- Pink pepper
- Rinse the herring fillets with cold water and pat dry again with kitchen paper; Cut the onion in half into strips, dice the pickles and apples.
- Mix yoghurt, crème fraiche, mayonnaise, lemon juice and cucumber stock into a smooth marinade. Fold in onion strips, cucumber and apple cubes and season with pepper, salt and sugar to taste.
- Layer the marinade alternately with the herring fillets in a serving bowl, finish with the marinade and leave everything covered in the refrigerator to steep (preferably overnight).
- The next day only cook fresh jacket potatoes and serve with the herring garnished with chives rolls and pink pepper. This is a popular Friday meal with us.
