Labskaus Valentine’s Day
The perfect labskaus valentine’s day recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 300 g Floury potatoes
- 100 g Celery bulbs roughly diced
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 170 g Canned beef in its own juice
- 2 Herring fillets
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 0,5 Chopped onion
- 2 Eggs
- Finely chopped parsley
- Roughly dice the potatoes, put them in a saucepan with the celery and fill up with water. Do not add salt, meat and fish usually give off enough salt. Add lemon juice so that the celery keeps its color. Cook. In the meantime, continue with step 2. When the potatoes are cooked, drain them, collecting some of the cooking water. Mash the contents of the pot with a potato masher.
- In a pan in 1 tablespoon of oil, fry the onion pieces until soft and add to the mash. Dice the fish and meat and stir in together with the meat jus. Carefully heat and mash everything again, if necessary dilute with a little cooking water. The consistency should be thick and firm rather than mushy. Fry two fried eggs in the remaining oil.
- Sprinkle the Labskaus with a little parsley and serve with the fried egg.
