Tofu and Sauerkraut Stew

The perfect tofu and sauerkraut stew recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Pc. Onion
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 400 g Sauerkraut from the can
  • 100 g Raisins
  • 0,5 tsp Vegetable broth powder
  • 250 g Smoked tofu
  • Salt pepper
  1. Peel the onion and cut into fine half rings. Dice the tofu. Heat some oil in a saucepan and sauté the onion. Sprinkle with sugar and let it caramelize. Deglaze with 450 ml of water. Season with salt, pepper and vegetable stock. Add the sauerkraut and raisins and stir everything well. Put the lid on and let it simmer over a low heat for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Dice the tofu and fry in the remaining oil in a pan until crispy. Add to the sauerkraut at the end of the cooking time.
  3. This fits e.g. mashed potatoes and a herb quark.
