Sauerkraut soup

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g sauerkraut
  • 2 tbsp lard
  • 1 liter meat broth
  • 100 g smoked bacon
  • 2 onions
  • n. B. Sausage (e.g. garlic sausage or similar) as filling
  • Caraway seeds
  • Paprika powder
  • 1 garlic clove(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Peel the onions and garlic. Dice them along with the bacon. Heat the lard in a pot and sauté the bacon and onion cubes. Add the caraway seeds, garlic, and paprika, and pour in the meat broth. Add the sauerkraut, fluffing it up with a fork. Then simmer for 20 minutes. Add the chopped sausage. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot. It tastes especially delicious when it’s cold outside.
