Turkish meatballs with yogurt sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g cream yogurt, Turkish
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp mint, fresh, chopped
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp mint, chopped fresh
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 40 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 500 g minced lamb, alternatively minced beef
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 8 minutes; Total time approx. 28 minutes

Stir the yogurt until creamy and season with pepper, salt, and lemon juice. Stir in the herbs. Finely dice the onion and garlic cloves. Knead the minced meat into the minced meat along with the mint, egg, breadcrumbs, and tomato paste, and season generously with salt and pepper. With moistened hands, form small balls and fry in hot oil for 5-8 minutes, turning frequently. Drain well on kitchen paper and serve with the sauce. Serve with Turkish flatbread and a mixed leaf salad.
