Irish country bread with cheese

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 ml milk
  • 300 ml buttermilk
  • 225 g flour, white, sifted
  • 225 g flour (wholemeal flour)
  • 50 g Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 25 g butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 medium-sized onions, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tsp parsley, fresh, washed and finely chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Irish country cheese bread

Combine all ingredients except the cheese in a large bowl and mix. Knead lightly and form into a log. Place on a floured baking sheet and score a star-shaped pattern with a knife. Brush with milk, sprinkle with cheese, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 35-40 minutes. Check the bread is done with a wooden skewer. If no dough sticks to the skewer, the bread is ready.
