Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 450 g flour, type 405
  • 400 ml buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda (bicarbonate – soda, baking soda)

Irish farmer’s bread

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly with a dough hook (food processor, hand mixer). Finally, knead briefly by hand. Form a loaf and cut a slit in the middle. The bread can be baked in a loaf pan or simply on baking paper. Preheat oven to 230°C (top/bottom heat) (fan oven: 210°C) and bake for approximately 30-45 minutes. The bread is ready when it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
