Baked potatoes with oregano

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 2 kg potatoes (preferably floury)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp oregano (wild, dried)
  • 1 pinch(s) paprika powder, hot
  • 1 cup(s) olive oil (virgin)
  • 2 medium-sized lemons (juice)

Potatoes fournou loadres

Wash and peel the potatoes, cut them into eighths, and place them on a baking sheet. Finely dice the garlic cloves and sprinkle them over the potatoes. Sprinkle with salt, oregano, and paprika. Then drizzle the potato pieces with oil and lemon juice. Place the tray in the oven at full temperature for half an hour, then reduce the heat to about 180°C and let the potatoes brown for another half hour. These potatoes are a special treat. Serve with a glass of red wine as a main course, with a salad before and a dessert after. Or with sole and a small salad—either way, these potatoes are a hit!
