Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 500 g flour
- 1 packet of dry yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 eggs
- 375 ml milk
- 125 g raisins, rinsed
- Rapeseed oil for frying
- 200 g apple sauce, preferably homemade
- e.g. powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
A Westphalian classic that shouldn’t be missed on Good Friday!
Combine the flour, yeast, and sugar. Add the remaining ingredients (except the raisins) and mix everything into a smooth dough. Let the yeast dough rise in a warm place for 20 minutes. Then knead in the raisins. Heat a pan with rapeseed oil and, using a small ladle or tablespoon, drop four equal portions of dough into the pan. Fry until golden brown on both sides (careful, this goes faster than you think!). Serve with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar and a dollop of applesauce.
