Schnitzel baked, Palatinate style

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 3 pork schnitzels from the back or topside
  • 3 sausages, raw, coarse
  • 1 can mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 150 g cheese (Emmental or Gouda), grated
  • 400 ml cream
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Season the schnitzels with salt and pepper on both sides and place in a baking dish. Then, slice the sausage lengthwise and remove the sausage meat from the casing. Spread the mixture over the schnitzels. Halve the onion, slice it into strips, and scatter it over the schnitzels. Drain the canned mushrooms briefly and place them on the schnitzels. Spread the cream over the schnitzels and top with the cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at approximately 180°C for 35-40 minutes on the middle rack. Serve with rice or French fries.
