Apple-pear compote

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g apples, sour (e.g. Boskop)
  • 400 g pear(s)
  • 1 lemon(s) (juice and zest)
  • 50 g sugar, brown
  • 3 tbsp raisins
  • 2 stalk(s) cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Peel, quarter, core, and cut the apples and pears into equal-sized cubes. Briefly bring the fruit cubes to a boil in a saucepan with 500ml water, lemon zest, lemon juice, sugar, raisins, and the coarsely crumbled cinnamon sticks. Cover and simmer over medium heat for about 8-10 minutes, until the fruit is soft but not mushy. Then let the compote cool completely. To serve, pour the compote into 4 dessert glasses and serve with a scoop of bourbon vanilla ice cream, cinnamon-flavored whipped cream, or rice pudding.
