Spicy sausages in puff pastry

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 Vienna sausages or other Bockwurst
  • 1 pack of puff pastry, from the refrigerated section
  • ketchup
  • Mustard

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Conjure up a spicy meal with little resources, quickly and easily

Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 8 even pieces. Stretch each piece slightly (carefully so it doesn’t tear) to make it larger and a little thinner. Spread the pieces with mustard and ketchup, leaving the edges clean. Place the sausages on the puff pastry pieces and roll up the dough. I always try to leave as little of the sausage as possible showing, as they burst easily and then become dry. Place the sausages on a baking tray and lightly cut the tops 3-4 times. Bake the sausages in a roll at around 180°C (top/bottom heat) for 15-20 minutes, until the puff pastry has risen nicely and taken on some color. A quick but delicious snack. Also ideal for children, for picnics, at buffets, etc.
