  • 4 slices of toast
  • 2 slice(s) cooked ham (or four depending on the size of the slices)
  • 4 slice(s) cheese, Gouda (medium aged)
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 4 egg yolks (fresh)
  • butter
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Paprika powder, sweet or hot

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

toast with whole egg yolk

Pre-toast the bread and lightly butter it. Top with cooked ham and cheese, trimming off any excess edges. Then place an onion ring in the center of each slice, just large enough to hold an uncooked egg yolk. Season the egg yolk to taste with salt, pepper, and paprika. If you like, you can also sprinkle very thin strips of sliced Gouda cheese on top. Grill in the preheated oven for 3 to 7 minutes—depending on how soft you want the yolk. Of course, this also depends on the grill.
